FIRE CAUSES DISRUPTION IN HARBORNE HIGH STREET, BIRMINGHAM – PRAY FOR LOCAL SHOP KEEPERS

A major fire broke out at Stead & Simpson shoe shop, situated near the old Clock Tower in the Harborne district of Birmingham, at about 6am today, Thursday, 2 May, causing extensive damage. Adjacent shops, Super Drugs, and Coral were also damaged in the blaze.

There was sever disruption to traffic, pedestrians, shop keepers and their customers during the day as a stretch of Harborne High Street was cordoned off by the police and fire service. Traffic and buses were diverted and shops in the vicinity of the fire remained closed.

Why you may ask have I included this local news story Рto remind myself and others how  important it is to remember local shop keepers in our prayers and thank them for the service they provide to local communities throughout  the country!
